How it works
Ready to get popped and record your own hit? Here’s the lowdown on how we turn your party plans into chart-worthy memories.
Jump to Frequently Asked Questions
Step 1: Send us your enquiry
Fill out our quick enquiry form telling us your desired date and time, how many singers and spectators you’re bringing, and a bit about the occasion — hens do, kids’ birthday, corporate party, you name it. The more we know, the better we can tailor your session.
Step 2: We get back to you
We’ll check our calendar and confirm availability. If you're happy to go ahead we’ll invoice you for a non-refundable deposit to secure your spot! Full payment is due at least 7 days before your session. Just a heads up: we may have to cancel if payment or your song choice isn’t confirmed on time.
Step 3: Pick your song
Just like karaoke, at Get Popped you’ll be singing a cover of an existing track. We can make most songs work, so let us know your choice in advance and we’ll confirm if it’s possible. Not sure what to sing? Don’t stress, Dan’s got a list of guaranteed crowd-pleasers and can help you land on a studio banger that feels just right.
Step 4: Prep your crew
We suggest sharing your chosen song with your crew ahead of time so they can practice if they want, but no pressure to be perfect. Dan’s an expert at making everyone feel comfortable, confident, and part of the fun, whether you’re a shower singer or the next big thing.
Step 5: Show up and 'get popped'
On the day, Dan will guide you through the recording process — flexible, chill, and totally focused on making sure you have a blast. Sessions usually last 1–1.5 hours, max. Once you’re done, you’re free to head out and let Dan work his magic.
Space is tight! For our standard party package, up to 5 singers and 1 spectator fit comfortably in the studio. No hanging outside the studio, so please make sure any larger groups or extra spectators are discussed beforehand and included in your quote. We can’t accommodate surprise guests, so no gatecrashers, please. We may have to cancel bookings if more people turn up than planned.
We want you to have fun, but please don’t turn up intoxicated. We reserve the right to end the booking if anyone behaves inappropriately.
Important: You’ll be entering a professional, working music studio. It’s a shared space, and other producers may be working with clients at the same time. Please be respectful of the environment and abide by studio rules while on the premises. Failure to do so may result in the booking being ended early. Also, children under 14 must have at least one guardian present
We record your vocals over existing songs and backing tracks, so your finished track is for personal use only — not for uploading to Spotify or sharing publicly. It’s all about the experience of recording in a real studio and hearing yourself sound amazing!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where's the studio?
We're now operating out of Big Fan, 25 McDonald St, Morningside, Auckland.
How many people can I bring to the session?
For our standard party package, we recommend up to 5 singers and 1 spectator in the studio. Space is limited, so if you have a bigger crew or more spectators, please get in touch to discuss a custom experience.
Can I record more than one song?
Our standard sessions cover one song, which usually takes 1–1.5 hours. Want to record more? No problem! We offer custom packages tailored to your needs — just ask.
Do I need to be a good singer?
Nope! Dan’s a pro at making everyone feel comfortable and have fun, no matter their skill level. This experience is about good times, not perfection.
Can we bring food or drinks into the studio?
Sorry, the studio is strictly food and drink-free. But don’t fret — there are tons of great cafes and bars nearby to all our studios where you can celebrate after your session!
What’s the cancellation policy?
You can cancel up to 48 hours before your booking. The deposit is non-refundable, but we’d love to reschedule if something comes up — just get in touch.
Can we come if we’ve been drinking?
We want you to have fun, but please don’t arrive intoxicated. We reserve the right to end the booking if anyone behaves inappropriately. Let’s keep the vibes good and the studio professional!
Can I release my song online?
Nope — the tracks we use are covers of existing songs, so your recording is for personal enjoyment only. You can play it for your friends, keep it as a fun memory, or show off at your next party — but it’s not licensed for public release or streaming.
Is this a professional studio?
Yes! You’ll be entering a professional, working music studio that’s shared with other producers and clients. Please respect the space and follow all studio rules while on site. Children under 14 must be accompanied by at least one guardian. Failure to respect the environment or rules may result in your session being ended early.
